I've been using this method for a while now, and thought it would be nice to OpenSource it. It's great for peeling any amount of potatoes, and is much less wasteful than the conventional potato peeler method. Arnab's Potato Peeling Algorithm is licensed under the GPL. For best results, use fresh potatoes.
- Take a clean pad of your favourite abrasive based utensil cleaner (I use ScotchBrite). Make sure it's not the same one that your maid used to scrub the greasy dishes at home, or your potatoes will have that funny, soapy, smelly flavour. Trust me, I speak from experience.
- Take the potatoes in a bowl and wash off all the mud off it.
- Scrub the skin off each potato by rotating the potato slowly in between scrubs. It helps to dip the potatoes and the pad in water between scrubs to take the skin off.
- Wash, wash, wash the abrasive pad to get rid of the scrubbed off peel collected in the pad. Otherwise, the pad will begin to smell like a miniscule compost pit in a few hours. If you don't do this, your mother will scream at you. (Again, from experience)
There you have it: neat, clean and nice looking potatoes! And remember, you heard it first at the arnab's world weblog!
